Family Security Matters Oped: How and Why Islam Plays the Sex Card

November 9th, 2015
Despite the vast differences existing between Western and Islamic cultures, they share one major similarity. In both cultures, sex sells. But it is how sex is used that any similarity ends. In the West, it is used to sell products; with Islam, it is used to sell death.

As Islamism continues to increase its violent footprint upon Planet Earth, it is increasingly important for non-Muslims to understand exactly how this religion plays the sex card, emboldening legions of male followers with a willingness to die for it.

Among the many Islamic scholars and clerics espousing the sexual rewards that await followers is Saudi Sheikh Yahya Al-Jana’. In a lecture given just last month, he describes the virgins in Paradise awaiting believers, as was first promised centuries ago by Allah. While males have much to be excited about, Muslim females do not.

(Warning: While some readers may find the following verbatim translation of the Sheikh’s lecture, provided by the non-profit organization MEMRI, disturbing, it is most telling about Prophet Muhammad’s need to appeal to the lustful desires of his audience at the time-uneducated Bedouins. Unfortunately, this appeal continues 1400 years later.)

“There are not so many women in Paradise. It is mostly men who enter Paradise. (The Prophet Muhammad) said some women would not even smell Paradise, although it can be smelled from a distance that would take you 500 years to cross.

“Why? Because they are unveiled, playing up their charms, wearing tight clothes in shopping malls, and putting on perfume and jewelry, talking to young men and sending her pictures via filthy social media platforms.

“Allah described (the virgins of Paradise) very specifically. He even described their breasts: ‘Indeed, for the pious, there is a place of triumph, gardens and grapeyards, and full-breasted women of equal age.’ Full- breasted women of equal age refers to the virgins of Paradise. Allah described their breasts in order to let you know what awaits you in Paradise.

“There is no shame in talking about these things. (Allah) wants to make you vie for (Paradise). This message is directed toward people who lose Paradise because they succumb to momentary lust. The breasts of the virgins of Paradise are like pommagranates. They don’t sag. They are beautiful.

“Where are you, lovers of women? Where are you, who desire these virgins? How many people have lost their promised virgins for the sake of one unveiled whore?…Allah even mentioned sex, in order to make you lust for Paradise. It is not just food, drink and happiness. There is also sex, as well as women who are nothing like those you meet in this world.

“Allah said, ‘Indeed the dwellers of Paradise will be busy in joyful things that day. They and their wives will by lying on adorned couches’…Ibn ‘Abbas (Muhammad’s cousin and a respected scholar of Islam was queried): ‘Allah said that the dwellers of Paradise are busy. What keeps them busy? What keeps them busy, oh Ibn ‘Abbas?’

“Ibn ‘Abbas said: ‘They will be busy tearing hymens’…Is there sex in Paradise? Yes, Ibn ‘Abbas narrated that the Prophet Muhammad was asked: ‘Oh Messenger of Allah, will we have sex in Paradise with our wives like we do on Earth?’

“Muhammad said: ‘By Allah, a man will have a hundred virgins in a single morning.’ And what is even more amazing is that each time he returns to one of them, he will find that she is a virgin again and that she is even more lustful and feminine. He will find her a virgin again, not like the women in this world, whose hymen is ruptured once, and that’s it. Every time he returns from meeting Allah, he will find her a virgin again.

“The dwellers of Paradise will be given the strength of a hundred men when it comes to eating, drinking and sex, because some of the dwellers of Paradise may be married off to a hundred virgins, or even more. He will be given the strength of a hundred men, so that in one morning he will be able to have sex with a hundred virgins of Paradise.”

The Prophet Muhammad understood the human male psyche all too well.

The success of promoting Islam as a new religion turned on being able to field an army of warriors committed to dying for Allah. He understood the allure the opposite sex had on men and how that lust could be used to channel a man’s passions to create an invincible army.

Muhammad saw the allure of a woman in this life as a distraction for his warriors, taking their eyes off the task of Islamic conquest. He needed to loosen the normally strong bond forged by the marital relationship, re-directing a warrior’s energy so as to make him unafraid to fight and die on the battlefield.

He decided the best way to maximize a warrior’s focus on the fight and not on his family was to diminish the importance of women in this life. This meant effectively preaching that females were subservient and no more than second-class citizens to serve males in this life. To further reduce the allure of any loving wife, Muhammad sanctioned Muslim males to have multiple wives.

To remove the fear of death from a warrior’s performance, Muhammad determined this could best be done with “recycled” virgins male believers were to find in the afterlife. Such a promise of sexual paradise left the warrior to die with a smile in expectation of Allah’s promised reward.

Even the warrior who successfully prevailed on the battlefield and survived-leaving entry into his sexual paradise for another day-there was another appealing provision made by Allah. The warrior’s sexual desires would be satisfied by his right of claim to take captured females as own sex slaves.

It is most telling when a religion places such emphasis on satisfying man’s lustful desires. That this would be done even to the point, as Sheik Yahya Al-Jana’ proclaims in his lecture, of describing a virgin female’s body parts in paradise should cause concerns among educated believers and non-believers alike as to a religion’s allure.

Such a female sexual exploitation focus brings to mind the “faux” religions of 20th century “prophet- wannabes” Jim Jones and David Koresh.

When Jones and Koresh marketed the People’s Temple and the Branch Davidians, respectively, educated observers easily saw these religions for what they really were-cults.

The fact Prophet Muhammad has had a 14-century head start on Jones and Koresh should not deter us from scrutinizing Islam with the same eye.
